What is intense pulsed light?

Intense pulsed light, or IPL, is a light-based treatment. Dr Satish’s rosacea leaflet names it, alongside lasers, as an option for reducing the visible blood vessels of rosacea and for correcting the change in the shape of the nose that rosacea can cause.

A note on this page

The clinic’s patient leaflets do not yet include a sheet devoted to intense pulsed light, so this page is deliberately short. Ask at your consultation whether IPL is a suitable option for your skin.

How the clinic approaches it

IPL may be discussed for selected visible vessels. Your doctor will assess suitability; results vary.

Points to remember

  • Bring a list of skin products.
  • Mention recent sun exposure.
  • Ask about sessions and aftercare.
